Kansas City Smoking Ban
Greetings
There was an opinion peice in the Kansas City Star on Saturday,Jult 9th about instituting a smoking ban in all public places in Kansas City. (Link to article here) I want to raise three points with the author.
First - Neither the city nor any other government have the right to tell private business owners what they may or may not allow in their place of buisness. If a buisness owner does not want to allow smoking in his place of buisness, that is up to him. Likewise, he may allow smoking if he likes.
Second - To address the point that the author makes about how much she stinks of cigarette smoke after she goes to these establishments that allow smoking, I have some advice - Don't go.
No one is forcing any customer to go to those places, and if an individual doesn't want to deal with smoke, they may exercise their right not to go.
Third - The author interviews a DJ on his feeling about playing in "smoke filled clubs". Again, the answer is simple. Don't Play.
There is no reason for a smoking ban. If you, the reader, happen to live in Kansas City, please vote against it.
